The panel considered what it means to reach out and engage the next generation:

  • Create a sense of belonging
  • Create a sense of community
  • Allow for individual differences
  • Provide a space to live out values
  • Provide opportunity for social justice work
  • Provide opportunity to address global issues
  • Enable engagement in Jewish life

Panel Status

The panel began the research process by determining its focus and scope. They are focusing on young people between the ages of 22 and 35. Over the course of its research, the panel reached out to experts in millennial engagement from a variety of organizations and backgrounds.

The panel determined that it was crucial to hear from its target audience.

They hired a professional interviewer and talked to ten people with different backgrounds and levels of Jewish engagement between the ages of 20 and 35.

The panel is currently compiling the results, and will develop a report and recommendations. They expect to conclude their work this spring.
