Ukraine celebrated its independence day under severe conditions, it is now just over six months after Russia invaded, and the war rages on. Jewish Federations and our partners continue to work together to ensure that urgent relief reaches the neediest, including those refugees who have fled and those remaining in Ukraine, given that close to seven million have been displaced from their homes but remain in the country.

Join us for this Cornerstone Salon hosted by Karen and Ron Matz featuring a new speaker Karina Sokolowska from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee ( JDC - Poland ).

Today, Karina has integrated a new role in response to the refugee crisis: she is the heart of JDC’s refugee operations in Poland. Approximately 3,800 Jewish refugees have passed through Poland since February 24. Karina manages to provide food, beds, and medical assistance, as well as emotional, educational, and Jewish spiritual support. She also oversees the integration into the local community of Jewish refugees who plan to stay in Poland.

Join us for delicious Ukrainian desserts and learn about our partner agency's work and Federation's impact in Ukraine.
