St. Paul Community Shlicha (Israeli Emissary)
Roni Levin is St. Paul's Young Shlicha, (emissary) from Israel. Prior to coming to Minnesota, the 26-year-old held a job with the Israeli government. Before that, she was a youth program director for the Misgav Regional Council where she was responsible for informal education activities for the youth of the local municipality.
Roni holds a BA in Political Science and Human Resources and served as a training officer in the IDF. As part of her military service, she was responsible for several squad commanders, developing curriculum and program supervision. Upon becoming a lieutenant, Roni was based in a combat engineering unit as a commander’s training supervision officer and a weapons' system instructor.
In high school Roni was involved in the Echud Haklai youth movement as a counselor. She volunteered with different communities in Northern Negev area, working with teens and tutoring kids at risk. She was also involved in the Karmiel-Misgav-Pittsburgh Partnership as a summer camp shlicha for the Pittsburgh JCC.Roni has been working with the St. Paul Federation, St. Paul JCC, Talmud Torah, St. Paul synagogues, JCRC and Hillel, creating Israel and Partnership 2Gether centered programs.
The Shlicha position is funded by The Federation and the Jewish Agency for Israel, as well as through monetary and in-kind donations from St. Paul Federation beneficiary agencies and other private donors.
